Working together for better air freight: ZUFALL is part of the SAF programme

We at ZUFALL are delighted to be taking another step towards more sustainable logistics – at lofty heights: we are now part of the SAF programme run by Air France KLM Martinair Cargo. This sends a strong signal in favour of more sustainable air freight.

Why SAF?

SAF stands for Sustainable Aviation Fuel – an alternative aviation fuel derived from used cooking oil and plant waste. Compared to conventional kerosene, SAF reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional jet fuel. And best of all, SAF is a drop-in fuel – it can be fed directly into existing aircraft engines without any technical modifications.

Sustainability that can be measured

In the context of the new EU guidelines on sustainability reporting, it is becoming increasingly important for companies to document their measures in a transparent and comprehensible manner. Our commitment to SAF offers exactly that: a certified, verifiable reduction in emissions – not compensation, but real savings.

How the SAF programme works

We offer our customers SAF bought from Air France KLM Martinair Cargo via the so-called ‘Book & Claim’ model. This means that the more sustainable fuel is fed into the global airport network, regardless of which flight your goods are transported on. This means that even if your goods are not transported directly by an aircraft using this fuel, you are still contributing to lowering carbon emissions. If your goods are transported via an airport where SAF is not currently available, the more sustainable fuel will still be used elsewhere – and your investment will still count.

As proof of this, you will receive an official certificate confirming the amount of CO₂ saved, which will be verified by an independent auditor at the end of the year. There is no minimum purchase quantity – but the more SAF you use, the greater your contribution to CO₂ reduction.

And we go one step further: we at ZUFALL have already purchased SAF from Air France KLM Martinair Cargo. We would like to give you 50% of the SAF costs for this quota in the first year. So if you purchase €1,000 worth of SAF, you will receive twice the amount of emission reductions.

How the SAF programme works – step by step

  1. Booking process
You as a ZUFALL customer made the decision to use SAF for your air freight transport. Together with our team, you determine the desired quantity – completely flexibly, with no minimum purchase.
  2. Feed-in to the airport network (Book & Claim)
The SAF is physically fed into the existing airport network by Air France KLM Martinair Cargo – regardless of which flight your goods are transported on. This ensures that the sustainable fuel is actually used.
  3. Emission certificate
You receive an official certificate for the amount of CO₂ saved – certified and confirmed by an independent auditor at the end of the year. You can use this certificate for your sustainability reports.
  4. ZUFALL contributes to the costs
ZUFALL has already purchased SAF quantity from Air France KLM Martinair Cargo. We can offer you 50% of the SAF costs from this quota in the first year. This means double the impact for your sustainability budget.
