The zufall.lab is a physical place to work on the sustainable and mindful future of the logistics world. In three workshop rooms, a co-working area and five logistics halls, a creative place has emerged from an old shipping company. It is made up of a combination of spaces, tools, technologies, methods and knowledge carriers.

COMPANY HISTORY

1928

Company formation in Kassel

On 1 June 1928, Friedrich Zufall founded the company ‘Hessischer Fernverkehr Friedrich Zufall GmbH’ with its headquarters in Kassel.

1943

Relocation of headquarters to Göttingen

After several bombings of Kassel, the headquarters were moved to Göttingen in 1943.

1976

Founding partner DPD

Friedrich Zufall GmbH is one of 18 leading German freight forwarders who founded DPD Deutscher Paketdienst in 1976

1991

Founding of AXTHELM + ZUFALL

Following the German Reunification, the company Axthelm + Zufall GmbH & Co KG was founded in Kölleda (Thuringia) in 1991 together with the company Carl Axthelm.

2003

Joint Venture Distribo

In 2003, ZUFALL founded the joint venture Distribo GmbH in Göttingen together with Sartorius AG. In 2014, a new logistics centre with around 15,000 m² was built for Distribo in Groner Siekanger in Göttingen.

2019

Founding of zufall.lab

With the zufall.lab, ZUFALL created a place to further anchor the areas of sustainability, innovation and new working within the company.
