The Sparkassen-Arena is the home venue of the Basketball-Bundesliga (Federal Basketball League) club BG-Göttingen. However, due to a bomb disposal, the arena could not be used for several weeks. The two upcoming home games of the Bundesliga team were to take place anyway.
The solution: BG moved into the Lokhalle with lock, stock, and barrel. Our long-standing partner passed us the ball and in no time, we made the move possible. David Cuckson, Head of Customer Consultancy Göttingen, gives us an insight:
David, you’ve often appeared as an endurance athlete recently – what do you associate with basketball?
I’m probably a basketball player at heart: I played for BG as a schoolboy and had a lot of great experiences playing basketball until our daughter was born – then, after more than 20 years, I stopped.
And what connects ZUFALL and BG?
We’ve been partners for over three decades. During prior moves, ZUFALL has also transported materials from the Sparkassen-Arena to the Lokhalle.
What was the cooperation like during this move?
It took two weeks of organisation, transport and temporary storage in one of our ZUFALL warehouses. We had a tight schedule, which we exactly adhered to. We planned and implemented everything precisely according to the BG.
What exactly had to be done?
On February 4th, we used our own forklift truck to load the hall parquet, baskets, display boards etc. onto four semi-trailers. Everything was then temporarily stored in our own warehouse until the unloading date at the Lokhalle. After the games and dismantling, we collected everything from the Lokhalle, stored it again and later brought it back to the Sparkassen-Arena.
That sounds like work for a lot of ZUFALLers!
Yes, indeed it was! That’s why I would like to thank the forklift and lorry drivers and the employees at our sites at Wilhelm-Lambrecht-Strasse and the freight transport centre who took care of the loading and unloading process. The colleagues who provided sufficient space and top storage also did a very good job! Everyone thought along early on and ensured that everything ran smoothly.
