Your advantages in general cargo transport

We get your cargo to its destination: reliable transport with ZUFALL logistics group

When Friedrich Zufall handled his first transport in 1928, he was probably transporting general cargo. These countable, packable and loadable goods still form the core of ZUFALL logistics group today.

Fortunately, since then the transport options for general cargo have developed considerably. Thus we can realise what Friedrich was still dreaming of in 1928: whether your general cargo is to travel 5 or 5,000 kilometres, whether it requires a combination of transport modes, whether it is heavy or temperature-controlled, whether it is consolidated or direct transport, whether it is small or large quantities: the choice is yours.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about general cargo transport

What is transported as general cargo?

The term “general cargo” refers to all goods that can be transported, counted, packaged and loaded in one piece in the logistics chain. This may include, for example, complete machines, individual system components, or a pallet with boxes.

What does it cost to transport general cargo?

The costs of transporting general cargo are variable and depend on factors such as the distance, route, and type of transport. The dimensions and weight of the cargo also influence the costs.

What is the difference between groupage and general cargo?

The similarity of the German words (Sammelgut vs. Stückgut) might lead to a direct comparison which is misleading, because groupage and general cargo are not comparable types of goods. General cargo describes the form of the goods whereas groupage describes the type of transport. For example, in many cases general cargo is transported as groupage.

How does the transport of general cargo work?

In the case of general cargo transport, the freight forwarder collects individually packaged goods from various senders and bundles them into standardised loading units such as pallets or containers in order to transport them efficiently. Depending on the point of departure and destination, various transport routes such as ocean freight, air freight and land transport can be used.

What is the difference between general cargo and bulk cargo?

The complementary goods to general cargo are bulk goods. These include liquids or bulk goods that cannot be easily stacked or counted.
