This also includes making our buildings sustainable. We are currently building a logistics hall for our joint venture DISTRIBO: <\/strong><\/p><p>&#8220;We are not relying on the usual standards in the industry but are rather building something of quality that will last a long time, pays off in the long term, and really makes sense,&#8221; explains Ringo Bernhardt, Head of Construction and Projects at ZUFALL. &#8220;I am sure that my grandchildren will also benefit from this way of building.&#8221;<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>DISTRIBO &#8211; a joint venture between ZUFALL and Sartorius AG <\/strong><\/p><p>DISTRIBO was founded in G\u00f6ttingen in 2003 and is a joint venture with the technology group Sartorius AG. The company acts exclusively for Sartorius and associated companies and takes over:<\/p><ul><li>production supply and disposal,<\/li><li>storage of strategic raw materials and finished goods,<\/li><li>and worldwide distribution.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>The biotechnology market is growing &#8211; and we are growing with it\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p><p>The biotechnology market is growing rapidly. That is why we have been building our logistics centre, including laboratory, on a total area of 75,000 m<sup>2<\/sup> at Siekanger in G\u00f6ttingen since 2014.\u00a0<\/p><p>As our partner Sartorius has continued to grow strongly since then, the first expansion phase of 10,000 m<sup>2<\/sup> was completed in 2017. We are currently in the final expansion stage for the time being. This consists of 10,000 m<sup>2<\/sup> of warehouse space and 1,000 m<sup>2<\/sup> of workshop and laboratory.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Uniform temperatures with little energy &#8211; made possible by concrete core activation <\/strong><\/p><p>DISTRIBO works with particularly sensitive life sciences products. These need to be stored at a constant temperature of between 15 and 25 degrees all year round.\u00a0<\/p><p>This is achieved by means of concrete core activation: a special form of underfloor heating in which, contrary to conventional underfloor heating systems, the heating hoses use the entire volume of the approximately 20-centimetre-thick concrete slab for heating or cooling. This ensures a very even temperature &#8211; while also saving energy.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-edef459\" data-id=\"edef459\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dfa4c6d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dfa4c6d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Positive CO<sub>2<\/sub> balance thanks to sustainable energy supply<\/strong><\/p><p>The energy required for the building is generated by the company&#8217;s own photovoltaic systems, heat pumps, and an ice storage system. &#8220;In total, we produce more energy than we consume, resulting in a positive CO<sub>2<\/sub> balance,&#8221; explains Bernhardt.<\/p><p>Modern technology is used to further reduce energy consumption. This includes intelligent LED lighting and the use of electric vehicles.<\/p><p>All of these measures enable us to achieve energy class E40+. This means that over 60% less energy is required compared to other conventional buildings of this type.<\/p><p><strong>Building also green from the outside<\/strong><\/p><p>During construction, the use of composite materials and plastic was avoided as much as possible &#8211; which is not entirely avertible when dealing with dangerous substances. The roof structure is made of 100% wood.<\/p><p>The exterior design is also close to nature: the facades will be greened, and wetland biotopes will be created around the building.<\/p><p>&#8220;We could have made it easier, but we are convinced that our concept will not only pay off ecologically in the long term, but also economically,&#8221; says Bernhardt.<\/p><p>Sustainable construction, as in the DISTRIBO project, is an important step towards sustainable logistics.
